The Governing Council of the Federal University of Lafia (FULafia) has approved the appointment of Prof. Mohammed Isa Kida as the new Vice-Chancellor of the institution.

Prof. Kida, who currently serves as the Dean of the Faculty of Management Science, was formally presented with his letter of appointment by the Chairman of the Governing Council, Mrs. Lola Fibisola Akande, on Wednesday.

According to the letter dated October 29, 2025, Kida’s tenure is for a single term of five years, effective from February 11, 2026.

An accomplished academic and chartered accountant, Kida is expected to bring “his wealth of experience to bear on the growth and development of the university,” the council stated.

He succeeds Prof. Shehu Abdul Rahman, whose five-year tenure is due to end in February 2026.

The appointment marks the beginning of a new leadership phase for FULafia, one of Nigeria’s rapidly growing federal universities established in 2011 to expand access to higher education in the North-Central region.
