French and Real Madrid forward, Kylian Mbappé has taken Paris Saint-Germain to court in a legal battle over hundreds of millions of euros.
On Monday, the Paris Labour Court heard the case, revealing the high-stakes financial clash between the superstar forward and his former club.
According to Le Parisien, Kylian Mbappé is seeking €240 million in damages, citing losses from his departure in the summer of 2024. He claims PSG failed to turn his fixed-term contract into a permanent one and owes him €55 million in unpaid wages and bonuses.
“This is simply a matter of an employee facing an employer who has failed to pay wages,” said Mbappé’s lawyer, Delphine Weil-Heden, at an April press conference.
Representing Mbappé while he recovers from an ankle injury, Weil-Heden added that her client “is committed to defending his rights, not only for himself but for all other players who have been wronged by the club.”
PSG responded by demanding €180 million from Mbappé, alleging that the player misled them after promising not to leave on a free transfer.
During the hearing, the club revealed a €300 million offer from Saudi Arabia that Mbappé rejected in July 2023 before ultimately refusing to renew his contract, leaving PSG without a transfer fee.
The club also accused Mbappé’s team of presenting an “absurd narrative.” Earlier this year, Mbappé briefly secured a provisional attachment of the disputed sum, but the court overturned the decision on May 26.
