Kwara Police Confirm Bandits Attack In Isapa Community

The Kwara State Police Command on Tuesday confirmed the abduction of ten residents of Isapa Community in the state’s southern region after a fresh bandit attack.

Isapa, situated a few kilometres from Eruku, was thrown into panic on Monday evening when gunmen stormed the area – barely 48 hours after the community celebrated the release of 38 church members kidnapped during a service at CAC Oke-Isegun last week.

Police spokesperson, Ejire Adetoun Adeyemi, said in a statement that the attack occurred around 6:05 pm, with assailants identified as suspected herders opening fire indiscriminately.

The statement read, “At about 1830hrs on 24th November 2025, the command received distress information on sporadic gunfire within Isapa Community via Obbo-Ile Village. Preliminary findings revealed that at about 1805hrs, a group of armed men, suspected to be herders, invaded the village, firing sporadically. A woman sustained a gunshot wound to her leg; she has since been treated and discharged. Further investigations revealed that 10 persons were abducted.”

The Commissioner of Police, Adekimi Ojo, immediately visited the community to assess the security situation and reassure residents.

During the visit, he met with the Onisapa of Isapa Land, Oba Gbenga Adeyeye, and the Olokesa of Okesa Land, Oba Olu Fagbamila Raphael Olusegun, as well as youth and community leaders.

He assured them that the police would intensify efforts to rescue the victims and restore public confidence.

He added that a coordinated search-and-rescue operation is ongoing, involving police tactical teams and local vigilantes who are combing the surrounding bushes believed to be used as hideouts by the attackers.

The command noted that normalcy has been restored in the community, which remains under strict monitoring.
