A fire disaster has consumed a four-bedroom flat in Ilorin, Kwara State capital.
The incident occurred on Sunday, at about 20:52 hours, according to the spokesman of the Kwara State Fire Service, Hassan Adekunle, in a statement in Ilorin on Monday.
He said the fire service received a distress call reporting a fire outbreak at Ifesowapo Street, Ita-Elepa, Ilorin metropolis.
According to him, “the fire crew responded swiftly and arrived to find a four-bedroom flat engulfed in flames. Despite their exceptional efforts to contain the fire and prevent its spread to nearby buildings, the entire structure was affected due to the late alert.”
The spokesman disclosed that preliminary investigations identified a power surge as the cause of the fire.
Director of the state fire service, Prince Falade John Olumuyiwa, urged the public to remain safety-conscious at all times to prevent fire outbreaks.
