In a heartfelt announcement, filmmaker Kunle Afolayan revealed the passing of his mother, Omoladun Ayanladun, who died at the age of 81. The news broke on social media over the weekend, as Afolayan shared a poignant tribute featuring cherished photos and videos showcasing precious moments with family and grandchildren.
Kunle expressed his deep sorrow, stating, “It is hard to accept, but she surely lived a good life. Our mother, Maami Omoladun Ayanladun Afolayan, has gone to rest (1943–2024).” He reflected on her legacy, adding that she is survived by her loving children and grandchildren, and requested prayers from friends and fans during this difficult time.
While the cause of death and the date of her passing remain undisclosed, the outpouring of support from fans and colleagues has been overwhelming. Many have taken to the comments section of Afolayan’s post to express their condolences and share their memories.
Gabriel Afolayan also took to Instagram to honor his late mother, affectionately recalling her as his “gist and dance partner.” He poignantly wrote, “Home is not cool. We lost a very dear one.
