The special adviser on Media to the Governor of Kogi state, Ismaila Isah, has said the state is experiencing rapid development under Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo, particularly in security and agriculture.
Speaking with journalists at the Kaduna state Council of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Isah said the administration had created a governance trajectory “never seen before” in the history of Kogi.
“We are doing a lot in securing the lives and property of our people. We take the fight to terrorists instead of negotiating with them because they cause too much havoc. This approach has been copied by other states like Kwara, Ekiti, Ondo, Benue, and even Niger and Nasarawa,” he said.
He added that the government had provided over 300 vehicles and 1,000 specialised motorbikes to security agencies while also strengthening the vigilante service with improved salaries and better equipment.
“Our neighborhood watch is rigid, with a robust network that provides minute-by-minute intelligence to security agencies. Almost every community in Kogi has people monitoring movements and sending reports,” he said.
On agriculture, Isah said the state currently has 76 farm clusters covering 10,000 hectares, with over 8,000 farmers actively engaged. He added that the government had refurbished over 150 tractors, saving billions of naira that would have been spent on new ones.
“We have invested over N10billion in agriculture. Unlike some states, we provide all implements, seedlings, and fertilizers for free,” he said.
