Operatives of the Delta State Police Command have apprehended three suspected kidnappers who allegedly collected a ransom of N2 million from their victim and still shot him afterwards.

The suspects, identified as Chukwuebuka Nka (25), Uche Okechukwu, and Somto Chukwuma, reportedly shot the victim in the leg after discovering that he did not have sufficient funds in his bank account.

According to Daily Trust, the spokesperson of the command, Bright Edafe, confirmed the incident in a statement on Thursday. He explained that the arrests followed a distress call reporting that a young man had been abducted from his residence in Ogwashi-Uku, Delta State.

According to Edafe, police operatives swiftly tracked the suspects to a bush in Ogwashi-Uku, where the victim was rescued with a gunshot wound on his leg.

Further investigations, Edafe added, led to the arrest of Chukwuebuka Nka and Uche Okechukwu in Anambra State. During the operation, the victim’s white Toyota Venza was also recovered.

Based on the confessions of the arrested suspects, operatives stormed their hideout in Agidiase village, Ogwashi-Uku, where the third suspect, Somto Chukwuma, was taken into custody.

The suspects later took the police to their hideout, where officers recovered their operational vehicle as well as a network jammer circuit device believed to have been used during the kidnapping operation.
