LAGOS – Mr. Festus Keyamo, the Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, has been conferred with the Fellowship Award, the highest honorary award of the Federal Polytechnic, Ilaro in Ogun State.
A statement by Mr. Tunde Moshood, the Special Adviser on Media and Communications to the minister, said that the award was conferred on Keyamo on Wednesday at the polytechnic.
The statement hinted that this recognition was bestowed on the minister by Dr. Mukail Akinde, the institution’s Rector, during the 45th Founder’s Day Anniversary and 22nd Convocation Ceremony held in the school.
The Fellowship Award is reserved for high-profile dignitaries of Ogun origin who have demonstrated exceptional contributions to national development.
The minister, whose mother is of Yewa descent, was honoured for his transformative impact on Nigeria’s aviation industry and his outstanding contributions to national growth.
The statement added: “Beyond his remarkable achievements in the aviation sector, the award also recognises the minister’s deep-rooted ties to the Ilaro community.
“Not only is he maternally from Ilaro, but his father and grandfather also spent a significant part of their lives in the town, further cementing his strong affiliation with the institution and the region.”
In his acceptance speech, Keyamo expressed profound gratitude to the Federal Polytechnic, Ilaro, for the honour.
He reiterated his commitment to advancing education, infrastructure, and economic growth, emphasising that these elements were critical for national development.
