Katsina To Pay N1bn Counterpart Funding For UMYU Teaching Hospital

The Katsina State Executive Council has approved the release of over N1 billion as counterpart funding to access more than N10 billion TETFUND intervention for establishing a teaching hospital at Umaru Musa Yar’Adua University (UMYU), Katsina.

This is contained in a statement by Ibrahim Kaula Mohammed, the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor made available to newsmen in Katsina on Thursday.

The statement said the funding aims to facilitate the full commencement of the MBBS programme at the institution.

“The establishment of the teaching hospital has been the prerequisite for the medicine course at the University”, it added.

Similarly, the said the State Executive Council has approved the contract review for the abandoned ophthalmology center project at General Amadi Rimi Orthopedic Hospital, Katsina.

“The contract sum has been revised from N407 million to over N500 million, following recommendations from the committee of experts who conducted an assessment and evaluation of the project,” the statement concluded.
