Katsina Police Nab Notorious Car Snatcher, Recover Stolen Vehicle


The Katsina State Police Command has apprehended a 28-year-old suspected notorious car thief in Katsina metropolis.

DSP Abubakar Aliyu, the command’s spokesperson, disclosed in a statement on Thursday that the arrest followed intensified efforts by the police to combat car theft across the state.

Aliyu explained that on August 30, at approximately 8:00 a.m., the Anti-Kidnapping Unit received intelligence that a black 2019 Toyota Corolla, stolen from the residence of Sunday Solomon at the Federal Housing Authority, Lugbe, Abuja, had been traced to Katsina.

“Upon receipt of the information, detectives of the Anti-Kidnapping Unit swung into action and successfully tracked the stolen vehicle to the Kofar-Kwaya area, Katsina metropolis,” Aliyu stated.

The spokesperson added that operatives arrested Muhammad Abdullahi, aged 28, from Kofar-Kaura quarters, Katsina, who was found in possession of the recovered vehicle.

According to Daily Post, During interrogation, Abdullahi reportedly confessed to receiving the stolen car from an accomplice named Abdul, also known as Dukiya, of Malumfashi, Katsina State, who remains at large.

Aliyu further stated that efforts are ongoing to apprehend the fleeing accomplice and any other individuals linked to the crime.

Commissioner of Police Bello Shehu commended the operatives for their professionalism and reassured residents of the command’s unwavering commitment to fighting crime. He also urged members of the public to continue providing timely and credible information to support security agencies in keeping Katsina State safe.
