Katsina LG polls: Police order restriction of movement today

Ahead of today’s Katsina State local government council elections, the state Police Command, on Friday issued a notice of restriction of movement throughout the state.

According to a statement by the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Abubakar Sadiq Aliyu, the Command has taken necessary precautions to ensure peaceful conduct of the polls.

The statement said: “In light of the upcoming local government election scheduled to take place on Saturday, February 15th, 2025, there will be restriction of movement of individuals and vehicles from 0600 hrs – 1600hrs within the state.

“This measure has been put in place to maintain law and order, as well as the security of the electorate to enable them cast their votes without interference.

“The Commissioner of Police, Katsina State Command, CP Allyu Abubakar Musa, has urged residents and all stakeholders in the state to comply with these movement restriction in the interest of promoting a peaceful and transparent electoral exercise.

“Adequate security arrangements have been made to enforce the restriction and to ensure the safety of all voters and election officials.

“He further called on eligible voters to come out and participate in the election process and exercise their civic responsibility in a peaceful and orderly manner.
