The Katsina State government in collaboration with the Safe the Children Initiative (SCI) has flagged off a three-day capacity building for adolescents on policy making process and governance.

Speaking at the flag-off in Katsina, the Special Adviser to Governor Umaru Radda, Department of Girl Child Education and Child Development, Jamila Abdu Mani, said the training was part of the children parliament’s capacity development programme to expose them to various rudiments of policy making.

“Through this partnership, we aim to empower our children, equipping them with the knowledge, skills, and confidence to become leaders and advocates for change within their communities and beyond.

“The children’s parliament capacity development programme is more than just an educational initiative; it is a platform for our children to voice their opinions, to learn about their rights, and to actively participate in decision-making processes that affect their lives and their future.

Urging the residents of the state to commit themselves to the values of equality, respect, and empowerment by working together to ensure that every child has the opportunity to achieve their full potential and be free from the constraints of gender or social status.

Earlier, SCI Programme Manager, Altine Lewi, explained that the children will be engaged with activities that will boost their capacity on policy making processes, as they intend to come up with a strategic work plan at the end of the programme.
