Katsina Gov Radda Grants LGAs Full Autonomy with N11.9B Boost

Katsina State Governor Dikko Umar Radda has granted full financial autonomy to the state’s 34 local government areas (LGAs), disbursing N11.9 billion—N350 million per LGA—to fund transformative projects.

Announced Friday at the Katsina Government House, the move aligns with the 2024 Supreme Court ruling on LG independence, ensuring direct federal allocations without state interference.

Radda emphasized that LGAs can now manage budgets and execute projects like erosion control, healthcare upgrades, and security initiatives independently.

A new Inspectorate Department will ensure transparency. The funds, part of a Joint Allocation Committee framework, target Katsina’s pressing issues, including insecurity and underdevelopment.

ALGON’s Acting Chairman, Hon. Rabo Tambaya Danja, praised Katsina as a pacesetter, noting uninterrupted allocations and autonomous project execution. Radda, a longtime autonomy advocate, urged chairmen to prioritize education, healthcare, and security while warning against corruption.
