Residents of Durbi Takusheri in Mani local government area of Katsina State have urged the government to address the deteriorating condition of their roads and persistent water scarcity affecting their community.
A resident, Murtala Yusuf who spoke on behalf of the community leader, urged Governor Dikko Umar Radda to fulfill his promise to repair the road leading to their area.
“We appreciate the governor’s commitment, but we plead with him to fix our road as he assured us,” Yusuf stated.
He also highlighted the community’s water supply challenges, explaining that while they have boreholes, they are no longer functional.
“As our community continues to expand, the existing water sources can no longer adequately serve our people,” he added.
Furthermore, Yusuf called on the government to provide farmers with fertilizer before the beginning of next farming season to enhance agricultural productivity.
“Our area is peaceful, and we are fully engaged in farming. If fertilizers are supplied on time, it will greatly benefit us,” he noted.
The chairman of Mani local government area, Inusa Muhammad Sani, recently told journalists that the council was working towards providing social amenities in rural communities.
He stated that in addition to ongoing improvements in healthcare facilities, roads, and culverts across the local government area, the council has also distributed 13,000 bags of fertilizer, farming implements, and improved seedlings to farmers.
The residents remain hopeful that the government will take swift action to improve infrastructure and support agricultural activities, ensuring a better quality of life for the community.
