A pro Biafra group, IPOB Jewish Community, has urged the Federal Government to uphold the rule of law in the current trial of the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, Nnamdi Kanu.
In a statement by coordinator of the group, Chinedum Art Michael, he said it was disturbing that the FG has refused to obey her own laws.
“How else does one explain the government refusing to obey a court order ordering the release of Nnamdi Kanu?”
The group said it defies simple logic that Justice Binta Nyako’s would insist on continuing to preside over the case of the IPOB leader after she recused herself.
The group said there are countless examples of institutions of the Nigerian government breaking their own laws to achieve a predetermined purpose in the case of Kanu.
“How does one rationalize the ‘kidnapping’ of Nnamdi Kanu by the Nigerian government, despite the law saying that kidnapping is a crime?
“How does one justify a judge passing a court order recusing herself from presiding over a case, and at the same time, continue to preside over said case?”, the group queried.
The IPOB Jewish Community said they are in total support of Kanu demanding that the FG should always uphold the rule of law.
