Newly established Kano State Signage and Advertisement Agency has set a three – year revenue target, saying it would raise the sum of N1.5 billion in the remaining months of the year.
The Signage and Advertisement Agency was recently established by the state government to regulate outdoor advertisements and related activities in the state.
Speaking at a press session, the Director General of the Agency, Kabiru Dakata also announced a revenue target of N3 billion for the year 2026 and N5 billion for 2027, saying that from the avaliable data, they could surpass these targets.
He pledged to regulate and sanitize outdoor advertisements in the state, including those on tricycles, branded vehicles and branded property, while urging owners of all such outdoor advertisements to regularise their activities with the agency.
He, however, remarked that the agency was not solely about revenue generation for the government but also about sanitising the sector to the benefits of all stakeholders.
In this light, he said the agency was already engaging its stakeholders and sensitizing the advertisers while acknowledging the cooperation and support of multi- national companies and advertisement practioners in the state , whom he said had been very supportive and cooperative.
Dakata remarked that with the agency now fully operational, the metropolis of the state would be spared of arbitrary outdoor advertisements and ercting of advertisement structures that obstruct the view of traffic and sometimes lead to accidents.
He pledged to ensure the highest standards in line with global best practices, noting that when outdoor advertisements are registered and regulated, it would serve the society and the state better.
