The Kano State Police Command has launched an investigation into the killing of two women in Tudun Yola Quarters, Gwale Local Government Area, whose home was also set ablaze on Wednesday.
The Kano State Police Command, through its Public Relations Officer, CSP Abdullahi Haruna, confirmed the killings to our correspondent on Saturday, adding that investigations are ongoing.
“Investigation is ongoing to determine the cause of the incident,” Haruna said.
The victims, identified as Hauwa’u Yakubu and Zahra’u Aliyu, were both wives of Alhaji Ashiru Shu’aibu Usaini, a family source confirmed.
Preliminary reports indicate that one of the women was stabbed before the house caught fire, while the second was later found dead in the bathroom.
Anas Shu’aibu, a stepson of the victims, said the incident occurred around midday while the husband and children were away.
He stated: “We found the burnt body of one of them, while the other was locked in the bathroom. When we forced the door open, she was already dead.”
The victim’s husband has appealed to authorities to ensure that those responsible are apprehended.
