“The suspect was arrested at Kofar Dawanau, an area where several reports of extortion by fake police officers had been received.”

He stated that a preliminary investigation showed Shitu is neither a police officer nor part of the Police Special Constabulary, but an impostor posing as an officer to extort unsuspecting members of the public.

Haruna stated that the suspect will be prosecuted in court, while investigations continue to uncover the full scope of his activities and identify any potential accomplices.

The Commissioner of Police, Ibrahim Bakori, called on members of the public who have information or complaints regarding the suspect or similar cases to reach out to the Police Command via its emergency number, 07038188127.

“The Command remains committed to taking proactive measures to safeguard the well-being of all residents in the state.

“We will continue to work tirelessly to ensure that those who engage in such criminal activities are brought to justice,” Heruna added.
