The Kano State Command of the Nigeria Security And Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has handed over a suspected Indian hemp dealer and two other accomplices to the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) for further investigation and prosecution.

The trio was reportedly arrested by NSCDC operatives in Doguwa Local Government Area of Kano State during an intelligence-led operation.

Speaking to journalists at the command headquarters shortly after the handover, the State Commandant, Bala Bodinga, confirmed that the suspects were apprehended on Tuesday, October 7, 2025, following a tip-off.

“You are invited here today to brief you on the recent milestone achieved by the Corps in its continuous efforts to rid Kano of criminally minded individuals,” Bodinga told reporters.

He explained that personnel of the NSCDC Doguwa Division intercepted the suspects around 2:30 a.m. at Riruwai Gate, following actionable intelligence.

“On Tuesday, October 7, 2025, at about 0230hrs, operatives of the NSCDC Doguwa Division, acting on credible intelligence, intercepted a motorcycle and arrested a notorious Indian hemp (Wiwi) dealer, Yusuf Alasan, aged 25,” he said.

According to him, Alasan, who resides in Doguwa town, was apprehended alongside two other men, Muktar Musa and Musa Sani, while conveying three large sugar-sized sacks filled with marijuana. The items were allegedly being transported from Doguwa town to Kafau, also in Doguwa Local Government Area of the state.

Bodinga noted that preliminary investigations conducted by the NSCDC had been completed, after which the suspects and exhibits were transferred to the NDLEA for further interrogation and necessary legal procedures.

“In the spirit of inter-agency cooperation, we are handing over the suspected drug dealer and his accomplices, along with the seized exhibits, to the NDLEA Kano State Command for further investigation and appropriate legal action,” he said.

The Commandant reaffirmed the NSCDC’s commitment to sustaining its collaboration with other security agencies in the state to dismantle criminal networks and ensure the safety of residents.

Confirming the arrest in a statement, the Command’s Public Relations Officer, Ibrahim Abdullahi, described the operation as another remarkable achievement in the Corps’ fight against crime in the state.

“The NSCDC operatives have achieved another success in the ongoing fight against crime with the arrest of two suspected criminals in separate operations,” Abdullahi said.
