The Kano State Joint Task Force Committee for Peace Restoration and Youth Rehabilitation has arrested 78 suspects in a four-day operation.
The exercise was aimed at tackling substance abuse and street thuggery across the state.

On Wednesday, the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), Kano State Strategic Command, issued a statement confirming the coordinated exercise, which was conducted in partnership with the Nigeria Police Force.
The operation targeted several notorious flashpoints across Kano, including Mariri Yan’itace, Fagge, Badawa, Kasuwar Rimi, Masallacin Idi, Yankaba, Hotoro Flyover, Kofar Mata, Rijiyar Zaki, and Jakara.
Raids were also carried out at Rumfa College, Dan’agundi Graveyard, and Kofar Wambai.
Confiscated items included cannabis sativa, Diazepam, Exol-5, Pregabalin, rubber solution, and other unconventional substances.
Chairman of the task force, Dr. Yusuf Ibrahim Kofar Mata, emphasized the government’s commitment, stating, “Our resolve to eradicate drug abuse and thuggery in Kano is unshakable.
“We will continue working to bring offenders to justice while protecting the safety and well-being of our citizens”
Assistant Commander of the General Narcotics (ACGN) A.I. Ahmad, Commander of the NDLEA Kano State Strategic Command, praised the professionalism of the operatives and acknowledged the support of the Nigeria Police Force.
He added, “Community involvement is crucial in the fight against drugs and criminality. Residents must remain vigilant and report suspicious activities” (September 24, 2025).
Investigations into the arrested suspects are ongoing, and the NDLEA assured that all those found culpable will face prosecution.
Rehabilitation initiatives are also being pursued to address the root causes of drug abuse and prevent future offenses.
The operation demonstrates Kano State’s renewed commitment to restoring peace and safeguarding its youth from criminal activities.
