Kano State Hydro Power Plant is to commence operation in the first quarter of 2026, Kano State Commissioner for Power and Renewable Energy, Ghaddafi Sani Shehu has announced.
Shehu disclosed this during an inspection visit to Hydro Power Plant at Tiga and the Hydro Power Plant at Challawa Dam.
The Commissioner expressed satisfaction at the progress of both projects and expressed the administration’s commitment to impact on the state of power supply in the state.
He disclosed that upon completion, the projects would provide constant power supply to the state and increase the power level.
He also stressed the importance of renewable energy in achieving these goals and pledged to explore innovative solutions to harness the state’s power and renewable energy potentials.
He held that improving the power sector in Kano State would undoubtedly have a positive impact on the lives of t residents and businesses in the state.
Also speaking, the Managing Director, Kano Hydro, Ado Ibrahim Doguwa disclosed that Kano State is the first state in the country to own a hydro power plant.
Doguwa commended the state governor, Abba Kabir Yusuf for his commitment to improving the well-being of the people in the state.
