Kano Govt. Approves N1.1bn For Free School Uniforms To Boost Primary One Enrollment


Kano State Government has sanctioned N1.1 billion for the provision of free school uniforms to Primary One pupils across the state, a move aimed at enhancing school enrollment.

The announcement was made in a statement issued on Friday by Sunusi Dawakin-Tofa, spokesman for Governor Abba Yusuf, in Kano.

The statement emphasized that supplying free school uniforms is expected to increase enrollment, improve student retention, and promote equal opportunities for all pupils.

“It is a right, not a privilege, for every child to access education,” the statement said, noting that the initiative will ease financial pressures on parents while encouraging out-of-school children to return to the classroom.

The government highlighted that this initiative aligns with other ongoing reforms under its comprehensive education agenda, reinforcing Kano State’s commitment to quality and inclusive education.
