The Managing Director of the Kaduna Electric Company (KAEDCO) has called on all its customers across the states to always ensure prompt payment of their electricity charges to enable the company to supply them with power regularly.

The MD lamented the poor revenue generation in the company, which he said is the worst among the eleven Discos in the country.

He stated this on Thursday in Sokoto while making his remarks during the Customer Complaints Resolution Meeting organised by the Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission.

Represented by the Chief Commercial Officer, Ahmed Sanusi, he said the company is seeking total collaboration with its customers to improve electricity supply in the state, hence the need to join hands together with the company to get things done.

According to him, the company has uncovered several complaints of people claiming to be staff of the organisation, thereby vandalising some of the equipment at the detriment of the customers.

Earlier, in her opening remarks, the Commissioner for Consumer Affairs, Aisha Mahmud, said the three-day town hall meeting is to get feedback from the consumers as well as to help them know their rights.

Represented by Dr. Babatunde Zubair, she said the three-day meeting is aimed at tackling some of the common complaints of customers in the state.

In his presentation, the representative of the Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC), Mr. Pius Bako, urged customers in the state to get their meters to regulate their charges.

Bako said no fewer than 75 percent of customers in the state have no record of meters in their premises.

The stakeholders’ meeting had representatives from civil society organisations, security agents, government officials, and members of the general public.
