Kaduna State has become a stronghold of the All Progressives Congress (APC), with Governor Uba Sani declaring at a mega rally in Murtala Square that the state is now 95% APC following the defection of four Kaduna State House of Assembly members, five House of Representatives members, and thousands of their supporters.
The rally was attended by prominent APC figures, including National Chairman Professor Nentawe Yilwatda, House Speaker Rt Hon Tajudeen Abbas, Minister of Environment Alhaji Balarabe Abbas Lawal, and North West Development Commission Chairman Alhaji Lawal Samaila Yakawada.
Governor Sani welcomed the defectors, emphasizing APC’s unity and non-discriminatory approach.
“Everyone, whether new or old members, has equal privileges. What matters is your ability to connect with the grassroots and represent your constituents,” he said.
Sani highlighted the APC’s growth in Kaduna, noting that the party now holds 13 of 16 House of Representatives seats, up from four in 2023, and 26 of 34 State Assembly seats, leaving the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) with three and eight seats, respectively.
He attributed this dominance to his administration’s focus on justice, fairness, and inclusivity, which has fostered peace and prevented ethno-religious crises in the state.
“Kaduna is Nigeria’s most diverse state, and we’ve used our diversity as strength,” Sani said, stressing that poverty transcends religion, ethnicity, and politics.
He pledged continued development across the state’s 23 local governments and three geopolitical zones, predicting that APC will secure 95% of Kaduna’s votes in the 2027 elections, surpassing his earlier 80% estimate to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
APC National Chairman Professor Nentawe hailed APC as “the promised land” for Nigerian politicians, praising Tinubu and Sani for their leadership and urging their re-election.
Speaker Tajudeen Abbas celebrated APC’s unprecedented dominance across Kaduna’s three zones, declaring, “We’ve never been this strong before.”
Representing the defectors, Hon Husseini Jalo thanked Tinubu and Sani for their exemplary leadership, asserting that Kaduna is now a one-party state poised to re-elect both leaders in 2027.
Notable defectors include federal lawmakers Hon Sadiq Ango (Sabon Gari), Hon Andulkarim Husseini Ahmad (Kaduna South), Hon Aliyu Mustapha Abdullahi (Ikara/Kubau), and Hon Husseini Jalo (Igabi), alongside former Senators Danjuma Lah (PDP), Suleiman Othman Hunkuyi (NNPP), Shehu Sani (PDP), former Governor Muktar Ramalan Yero, and PDP State Secretary Hon Saidu Adamu.
