Kaduna: Shehu Sani, ex-governor, other prominent politicians defect to APC

Kaduna state governor, Uba Sani, has welcomed Senator Shehu Sani and other prominent politicians into the All Progressives Congress (APC), assuring them of equal rights and privileges within the party.

Among those who defected to the APC were former Governor Mukhtar Ramalan Yero, Senator Suleiman Hunkuyi, NNPP’s 2023 governorship candidate Sani Sha’aban, former Senator Danjuma Laah, former PDP National Organising Secretary Abubakar Mustapha, and former Nigerian envoy to South Korea, Ambassador Sule Buba.

Speaking at a mega rally at Murtala Square over the weekend, the governor told the crowd of APC supporters that both new and old members would be treated equally.

“Someone who joined APC today and someone who has been a foundation member 10 years ago are of the same status. They will enjoy the same rights and privileges,” he said.

He urged the defectors to inform their supporters that the APC remains open to more members, attributing the party’s growing popularity to its leadership at both state and federal levels.

“The APC has come to stay in Kaduna, the North, and Nigeria as a whole. In the 2027 elections, from top to bottom, the electorate will vote for APC. At the top, our leader, President Bola Tinubu, will be elected. At the state level, the party will also be voted for in the gubernatorial, National, and State Assembly elections,” he said.

Governor Sani assured that his administration would continue executing projects across the state, regardless of party affiliations or ethno-religious differences.

“Politics is different from governance. We will be fair to all, whether they voted for us or not, because that is the oath of office we swore to uphold,” he added.

He acknowledged that leaders were not infallible and urged citizens to point out their mistakes constructively. He also reminded party members that leaders would be held accountable for how they governed.
