The Federal Government has announced the securing of N250 billion in funding to develop light rail projects in Kaduna and Kano States.

“Contrary to the perception being pushed at some quarters, this administration has demonstrated uncommon commitment to balanced and inclusive development since assuming office.

“The distribution of capital projects under President Bola Tinubu is equitable. No zone is taking a back seat,” Idris said.

The minister explained that N150 billion has been allocated for the Kaduna light rail project, while N100 billion is earmarked for Kano.

He emphasised that the projects highlight the administration’s determination to strengthen sub-national infrastructure and boost economic activity.

“The Federal Government is actively going further to support various subnational infrastructure projects, for instance the light rail projects in Kano and Kaduna States,” he stated.

“For these projects, funding to the tune of N150 billion and N100 billion Naira respectively has been secured,” he added.

Idris further noted that the removal of fuel subsidy has increased revenues available to states and local governments, enabling them to invest more in development.

“Thanks to the increased headroom from the oil subsidy removal, the sub-national governments are now able to do a lot more and with less debt,” he said.

The minister reassured Nigerians that the Tinubu-led administration will continue to invest in infrastructure as a catalyst for growth and job creation.
