The Nigerian Army has formally handed over a newly built primary school in Tudun Biri, Kaduna state, to the state government, a development hailed by residents as a long-awaited solution to the community’s education challenges.
Major General Abubakar Sadiq Muhammad Wase, General Officer Commanding (GOC), 1 Division led the handover ceremony and assured that the state government would provide teachers and staff promptly.

“His Excellency the Governor is not relaxing on his oars. Provision of staffing for this primary school will be done as quickly as possible so that children of this community can begin to enjoy this beautiful facility,” he said, commending the military for the “wonderful work” in constructing the school.
Dr. Sule Shuaibu, Commissioner for Internal Security and Home Affairs, said the school comprises seven classrooms, a teacher’s staff room, and a principal’s office.

He urged parents to enroll their children, noting the long-term benefits of education for the community and Kaduna State. He added that the community has remained a top priority to the state government.
Abubakar Musa, a youth leader in Tudun Biri, described the school as a “dream come true” for residents. “Our children had to travel long distances to attend school, costing us heavily in transport and school fees. This new facility will save us money and help our children reach levels of education we never attained as parents,” he said.
The school is the first of its kind in Tudun Biri, where previously there were no primary or secondary schools.
The development follows a period when the community was wrongly targeted for strikes by the Nigerian Air Force. Since then, the disaster has turned into a blessing, with the construction of road networks and other amenities improving the living conditions in the area.
The facility is part of the Army’s civil-military cooperation efforts to improve access to education and support community development in Kaduna State.
