Kaduna: APC takes early lead in Chikun/Kajuru bye-election


The All Progressives Congress (APC) has taken an early lead in results so far declared from some polling units in Chikun local government area of Kaduna state during Saturday’s bye-election for the Chikun/Kajuru Federal Constituency.

At Polling Unit 025, Mahuta 1 in Rido Ward, out of 1,282 accredited voters, APC polled 62 votes while the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) secured 26. The African Democratic Congress (ADC) scored 11 votes, while one ballot was declared invalid.

Similarly, at Polling Unit 017, Meyere High Cost, APC again led with 28 votes, with PDP trailing on 4, while the ADC and Labour Party (LP) polled 4 and 5 votes respectively.

At Polling Unit 002, LEA Primary School, Narayi, APC recorded 26 votes, PDP 15, ADC 4 and LP 10.

In another unit, Polling Unit 024 of the same Narayi Primary School, APC got 44 votes, PDP 33, LP 8 and ADC 6.

Most Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) presiding officers had moved the results to the designated collation centres under heavy security escort as at press time.

Meanwhile, security presence has been reinforced at the collation centres and the INEC headquarters in Kaduna, where party agents and supporters anxiously await official declaration of the constituency’s final result.
