Kaduna: Accreditation of 29 Gidan Waya NCE courses a great feat – Commissioner

The Kaduna state Commissioner of Education, Professor Mohammed Sani Bello, Wednesday, described the accreditation of 29 Nigeria Certificate in Education (NCE) courses at the College of Education, Gidan Waya, by the National Commission for Colleges of Education, (NCCE) as a great feat attained by the institution.

In a message to the COEASU End of Year Secretariat/ Financial Report Presentation and Send off for Retired members/Award Presentation, the commissioner charged staff of the college to reciprocate the gesture through hard work and dedication to duty.

Represented by the provost of the college, Dr Ayuba Ambi Aku, Professor Bello appreciated COEASU members who retired for their contribution to the development of the college and wished them well in their future endeavors.

The provost lamented that the college has suffered neglect in terms of infrastructural development by successive governments and stated the immediate challenges to include uncompleted access road, dilapidated hostels and the lack of overhead for over a period of two years.

He appealed to the authorities that the challenges be addressed to ensure proper running of the institution.

In their goodwill messages, the chairman, Committee on Education, Kaduna state House of Assembly, Mamood Lawal Sama’ila, and the minority leader, Mr Ali Kalat, both promised to ensure that steps are taken to tackle the challenges undermining the general development of the institution.

Earlier, in his welcome address, the COEASU chairman of the college, Dr Alkali Marados showered praises on the state government for the approval of 65 year retirement age for academic staff, a development he described as heartwarming.

The recipients include the Commissioner of Education, Kaduna state, Professor Mohammed Sani Bello, Mahmood Sani Bello, chairman, Education Committee, Kaduna state House of Assembly, Mr Ali Kalat, minority leader, Kaduna state House of Assembly, Comrade Audu Titus Amba, national president, NUT  and the provost, Kaduna State College of Education, Gidan Waya, Dr Ayuba Ambi Aku.
