Kachikwu Rejects INEC’s Recognition of David Mark as ADC National Chairman

Dumebi Kachikwu, the 2023 presidential candidate of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), has rejected the Independent National Electoral Commission’s (INEC) recognition of former Senate President David Mark as the party’s national chairman, labeling the decision as “irresponsible.”

The statement follows INEC’s announcement on Wednesday, September 10, 2025, recognizing the ADC National Working Committee (NWC) led by Mark.

Speaking on Channels Television’s Politics Today on Thursday, Kachikwu expressed a lack of confidence in INEC’s current leadership, accusing the electoral body of undermining the ADC’s internal processes.

“Nigerians as a whole know that the David Mark-led faction of the ADC is on borrowed time,” he declared, emphasizing that he has “never had faith” in the commission’s handling of the matter.

The recognition of Mark as chairman comes amid a leadership crisis within the ADC, with factions vying for control of the party ahead of the 2027 elections. Kachikwu’s rejection reflects ongoing tensions, as he and other party members challenge the legitimacy of Mark’s leadership.

The development has sparked reactions among ADC supporters and political observers, with some questioning INEC’s role in resolving internal party disputes.
