A member of the Peoples Democratic Partys (PDP) Disciplinary Committee, Senator Olaka Nwogu, has publicly refuted recent reports claiming that the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Minister and former Governor of Rivers State, Nyesom Wike, was summoned by the party over alleged anti-party activities and his ongoing rift with Rivers Governor, Siminialayi Fubara.
In a statement aimed at clarifying the situation, Nwogu, who served as a lawmaker representing Rivers South-East Senatorial District, labelled these claims as entirely false.
He emphasized that the committee had not convened to discuss any matters related to Minister Wike and criticized the dissemination of such misinformation.
According to Nwogu, certain individuals with intimate knowledge of the party dynamics might be spreading these false claims for personal reasons.
He highlighted the challenges faced by the committee in organizing its tasks and condemned the attempts to misrepresent its efforts.
Nwogu said, “I am a member of the disciplinary committee of the party. I was disturbed when the report came that Nyesom Wike had been summoned at a time when the disciplinary committee has not even met to consider any of these things.
“There has been a lot of misinformation to the public sometimes by people who should know better, who shouldn’t do that for reasons they know best.
“There are allegations that are flying all over the place, and even the committee’s work is being put in different light from what the committee has tried to do. The committee is still organising itself to now look at its functions.”
