Lafia, Nasarawa state – A former deputy governor of Nasarawa state and ex-minister of state for the federal capital territory (FCT), Senator Solomon Sunday Aku Ewuga, is dead.
Leadership reported Ewuga’s demise in a publication on Tuesday night, September 23. He was said to be 70.

Solomon Ewuga’s death
Ewuga, who also served as senator representing Nasarawa North in the 7th Nigerian senate, died on Tuesday, September 23, due to ill health, a family source has confirmed.
Human rights lawyer and former chairman of the National Human Rights Commission (NHRC, Prof. Chidi Odinkalu, who schooled with Ewuga at the Nigerian Law School, also confirmed his former colleague’s sad exit.
Odinkalu wrote on his known X (formerly Twitter) handle:
“Senator Solomon Ewuga, friend, big brother, thoughtful counsel, conscientious citizen, my mate from #LawSchool; now a mate of the Angels.
“Rest in Power my brother and thank you for doing your best while you had it in you!”
Ewuga, a former federal lawmaker and, was a prominent political figure in Nasarawa state. In December 2023, he formally joined the All Progressives Congress (APC) after defecting from the People’s Democratic Party (PDP).
He served as deputy governor under former governor Abdullahi Adamu.
Solomon Ewuga’s profile
Ewuga was born on June 19, 1955, into the Eggon ethnic nationality of Nasarawa state.
He attended and graduated from St. Joseph’s College. St Louis College Akwanga and Jos for his secondary education. He gained admission into the University of Ibadan (Jos Campus), where he studied Political Science, graduating with a Bachelor of Science degree. His quest for further education took him to Stockholm University in Sweden, where he earned a Postgraduate Diploma in Mass Communication. Upon returning to Nigeria, he enrolled at the University of Jos, earning a Bachelor of Laws (LL.B). In 1988, he was called to the Nigerian Bar, becoming a Barrister and Solicitor of the Supreme Court of Nigeria.
After being called to the Bar, he established the law firm Solomon Ewuga and Associates, where he practiced while continuing to expand his business interests as chairman of Dilimi Investments Limited and the chief executive officer (CEO) of Adpure Limited.
Ewuga’s daughter’s death
In 2022, the former deputy-governor’s pilot daughter, Adzuayi, died in a plane crash.
Adzuayi passed away in the air accident in Central Cameroon.
The pilot, who died in a mini-aircraft belonging to Caverton Aviation Cameroon, had 11-passengers on board.
The aircraft was flying from Yaounde Nsimalen Airport to Belabo, in the east of the country when air traffic services lost radio contact.
There were no survivors.

Ex-minister Audu Ogbeh dies
Earlier, Legit.ng reported the death of Audu Ogbeh, a former national chairperson of the PDP.
Ogbeh, who hailed from Benue state, was the national chairperson of the PDP from 2001 to 2005 when he was removed in controversial circumstances during the administration of former President Olusegun Obasanjo.
