Juric confirms Lookman ‘available’ for Atalanta vs Torino

Atalanta head coach Ivan Juric has confirmed that Nigerian forward Ademola Lookman is back in the squad ahead of Sunday’s Serie A clash against Torino.

The 27-year-old had been absent from action this season following transfer speculation and disciplinary setbacks but rejoined first-team training during the week.

Juric addressed reporters in his pre-match press conference, stating that Lookman has been reintegrated into the group but may not yet be fully fit to start.

Player welcomed back into squad

“Lookman? He spoke to me, his teammates, and the staff. He was welcomed well and will be available tomorrow,” Juric told Tuttosport.

“He doesn’t have full autonomy yet, given that he trained separately for a long time, but he worked very well this week.”

Lookman’s decision earlier in the summer to step away from group sessions had raised doubts about his long-term future at the club.

His absence coincided with strong transfer rumours linking him with a move away from Bergamo, but Juric’s latest comments suggest the forward remains part of Atalanta’s plans.

Fitness still under review

Despite his return, Juric was cautious about expectations. He stressed that Lookman’s match sharpness is still in question after his time out.

“We’ll see, he hasn’t trained much with the group. He remains an important player for us, but I’ll evaluate,” he said.

Boost after PSG defeat

Lookman’s availability comes at a crucial moment for Atalanta, who are seeking to recover from a heavy 4-0 defeat to Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League earlier this week.
