John Okoye Hungry For Egyptian League Success At Al Masry

New Al Masry forward, John Ebuka Okoye, has set his sights on achieving a new level of success in the Egyptian Premier League after joining the club until the end of the season. Al Masry signed the 28-year-old Nigerian from fellow Egyptian Premier League side and reigning cup champions Ceramica Cleopatra with an option to extend his short term contract.

“The Egyptian Club’s Board of Directors, headed by Mr. Kamel Abu Ali, completed the procedures for contracting with Nigerian John Ebuka, striker of the Ceramica Cleopatra team, with a contract extending until the end of the current season, with the possibility of extending the contract after the end of the season,” the club announced.

Al Masry consider the Nigerian as one of the most prominent Egyptian league football scorers in recent years. Okoye, who powered his former club to their consecutive Egyptian League Cup title last year is already targeting new heights at his new club.

“It’s my delight to team up with Al Masry and I’m looking forward to making an impact in my new home. I have done it elsewhere before and I can also do it here,” the player said.

Before achieving domestic success with Ceramica Cleopatra last season, Okoye was on loan at Al Ahli Tripoli in Libya, winning the 2022/23 Libyan Premier League and Libyan League Cup.Okoye, a former MFM FC player is a lethal goal scorer and he began to earn that reputation abroad when he turned in 121 goals in 104 games for Turkish Cypriot club Yenicami AK between 2016 – 2019.

Okoye’s new club Al Masry are currently fifth in the Egyptian league with 19 points after 11 games, eight points behind leaders Pyramids who have played a game more. He was twice named the top scorer of the Northern Cypriot League in the 2016/17 and 2017/18 seasons.
