The Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), The Throne Room, Abuja, marks Jamaica’s 63rd Independence anniversary with a special thanksgiving service.
The event, which brought together Jamaicans and Nigerians, was led by Pastor Tunde Benjamins-Laniyi, whose sermon emphasized hope, resilience, and spiritual liberation—drawing parallels between national independence and personal freedom in Christ.
Jamaica’s High Commissioner to Nigeria, His Excellency Lincoln Downer, delivered an inspiring message, urging Nigerians to emulate the bold spirit of the Jamaican people. Referencing the nation’s flag, he declared: “Be bold in the black, green, and gold.” He explained.

The High Commissioner highlighted the shared colonial past of both nations and called for continued resilience and innovation in the journey toward national prosperity.
The event, part of a series of celebrations by the Jamaican High Commission, also featured cultural showcases and a grand gala, reinforcing the strong cultural and diplomatic ties between Nigeria and Jamaica.
