Iwobi, Chukwueze headline six arrivals in Rabat ahead of Gabon clash


Nigeria’s Super Eagles have opened camp in Rabat, Morocco, as preparations intensify for the 2026 FIFA World Cup African playoff tournament.

Six early arrivals kick off training

Six players – Calvin Bassey, Alex Iwobi, Samuel Chukwueze, Tolu Arokodare, Olakunle Olusegun, and Wilfred Ndidi, were the first to arrive at the team’s base, the Rive Hotel in Rabat.

They joined officials to commence the initial phase of training, according to ANS. Bassey and Iwobi bolster the defence and midfield respectively, while Chukwueze, Arokodare, Olusegun, and Ndidi add firepower and stability in attack and midfield.

Tactical and fitness sessions underway

The early arrivals have begun intensive drills under the supervision of team officials, focusing on tactical shape, match rhythm, and physical conditioning.

The rest of the 24-man squad is expected to join in the coming days to complete the team’s preparation.

Eyes on Gabon

Nigeria will face the Panthers of Gabon on Thursday, November 13, in their semi-final clash. The Super Eagles are expected to remain in Morocco throughout the playoff phase, with the camp extending depending on the result of the tie.
