“It’s Unacceptable, Trump Should Apologize For Disrespecting Nigerians” – Deputy Senate President Jibrin

Deputy Senate President, Barau Jibrin, has strongly criticised former United States President Donald Trump over his recent remarks about Nigeria, describing them as “unacceptable” and demanding a public apology.

In a viral video seen on Friday, Jibrin condemned Trump’s tone and approach, stressing that Nigeria would not bow to any form of foreign intimidation.

He said the U.S. should respect international laws and diplomatic protocols when addressing matters concerning other sovereign nations.

“For the President of the United States to come and say, ‘You are doing this, we are going to attack you. And Nigeria is a disgraced country,’ it is quite unacceptable,” Jibrin said.

“He should understand, retract that statement, and apologise to Nigerians. It is against international law. Whatever he feels about our country, he should follow the legal route through the United Nations.”

The lawmaker added that he found it hard to believe such a comment came from a former American leader.

“We are not scared of Trump. If he were here, I would tell him to his face that he has gone against international law,” he said.
