Former Deputy Governor, Iyiola Omisore, has stated that his disqualification from the race for the All Progressives Congress (APC) ticket for the Osun governorship election was done to achieve a pre-determined outcome.
He, however, added that if the injustice is not addressed, it may bring dangerous consequences for the APC’s future in Osun State.
Naija News reports that Omisore made his views known in a post on his 𝕏 account on Saturday in which he disclosed that he has already appeared before the Osun State Screening Appeal Committee to air his grievances.
The former APC National Secretary added that the reasons given by the screening committee for his initial disqualification are completely untrue, malicious, and embarrassing.
While disclosing that he is yet to receive any formal notification on his purported disqualification, Omisore urged the Appeal committee to remedy what he described as an injustice from the screening committee.
He wrote, “Today, I appeared before the Osun State Screening Appeal Committee, despite not having received any formal notification personally addressed to me by either the Screening Committee or the All Progressives Congress.
“The reason circulating on social media, alleging failure to be nominated by financial members of the party is completely untrue, malicious, embarrassing and clearly crafted to justify a predetermined outcome.
“Addressing the press, alongside the six other aspirants who were purportedly disqualified, we warned that the imposition of a lackey as the party’s candidate poses a grave risk to our chances in the 2026 election. If this injustice is not urgently corrected, it may spell serious consequences for our party’s future in the state.
“Before the Committee, I earnestly appealed for a thorough review of the Screening Committee’s decision and for the provision of an appropriate and just remedy.”
Recall that Omisore had earlier on Saturday, while speaking with newsmen in Abuja, criticised his disqualification from the party’s Osun governorship primary, calling the decision “a huge joke” and accusing the screening panel of being biased and engaging in procedural violations.
