Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu issued a stern warning to Qatar and other countries accused of harboring terrorists on Wednesday, in a video shared on X.
He said, “I say to Qatar and all nations who harbor terrorists, you either expel them or you bring them to justice. Because if you don’t, we will.”
The statement comes amid escalating tensions following Hamas attacks earlier this year.
Netanyahu drew historical parallels to reinforce his message, recalling the September 11 attacks in the United States.
“We remember September 11th, a day where Islamist terrorists committed the worst savagery on American soil since the founding of the United States,” he said.
He further connected this to October 7, describing the attacks on Israeli civilians as, “the worst savagery against the Jewish people since the Holocaust.”
Highlighting international precedent, Netanyahu argued that America’s response to terrorism set a standard.
“What did America do in the wake of September 11th? They promised to hunt down the terrorists who committed this heinous crime, wherever they may be.
“They also passed a resolution in the United Nations Council two weeks later stating that governments cannot give harbor to terrorists,” he explained.
He noted that Israel had acted along similar lines against those responsible for the October 7 massacre, targeting individuals in Qatar accused of financing Hamas and providing safe havens.
“It finances Hamas, it gives terrorist chieftains sumptuous villas.
“So we did exactly what America did when it went after Al-Qaeda terrorists in Afghanistan and later Osama bin Laden in Pakistan,” Netanyahu said.
Addressing international criticism, he challenged the double standards he perceives in global reactions.
“Now various countries condemn us. They should be ashamed of themselves.
“What did they do when America took out Osama bin Laden? They applauded.
“They should applaud Israel for standing up to these same principles and carrying them out,” he added.
Netanyahu concluded by reiterating his warning, emphasizing that nations sheltering terrorists must act immediately.
“I say to Qatar and other nations who harbor terrorists: you either expel them or bring them to justice. Because if you don’t, we will.”
