IPAC declares support as OSSIEC displays materials for Osun LG election

From Lateef Dada, Osogbo

The Chairman of the Osun State Independent Electoral Commission (OSSIEC), Hashim Abioye, on Monday disclosed that everything is set to ensure free conduct of the local government election on Saturday.

He stated this while displaying materials to the Intra-party Advisory Committee (IPAC) and other stakeholders in the election at the commission’s office in Osogbo.

According to him, the cubicle provided would enable two persons to vote simultaneously without hindrance, noting that ballot papers and boxes are also available.

He disclosed that the ballot paper carried the logos of all the political parties because no party has officially written the commission of its intention to boycott the poll.

He said, “For the first time, we have a voting cubicle which will allow two persons to vote at a time to reduce long queue.

“Our ballot boxes are ready and the ballot papers are bar coded in a way that the one meant for a local government can not be used in another local government.

“As I’m talking to you now, all the 18 political parties who registered are participating. We have not heard of any political party withdrawing from the election. We have not received any communication to that effect and that will not in anyway hamper the process of the election,” Abioye said.

The chairman of IPAC, Pastor Victor Akande, declared readiness to participate in the election, noting that there was no letter of withdrawal from any of his members.
