The Kwara State University (KWASU) has announced the temporary relocation of staff and students from its Ilesha Baruba campus to the main campus in Malete.
The institution said the move became necessary as a precautionary security measure in view of recent developments in parts of the state.
Daily Trust reports that the announcement comes a few weeks after the state government closed some schools in local government areas recently attacked by bandits.
The government has, however, assured that it will leave no stone unturned and is working with the federal government to restore peace in the affected LGAs.
The Ilesha Baruba campus is in Baruten Local Government which had witnessed attacks recently before calm was restored.
In a statement signed by the Acting Director, University Relations, Dr Saeedat Aliyu, the management said a recent visit to the Ilesha Baruba campus showed that the environment remained calm, with students and staff in good spirits despite the planned relocation.
The university added that preparations were in top gear for its 13th Convocation Ceremony, scheduled to begin on December 9 and run through the week, noting that the Ilesha Baruba community is expected to join the activities at the Malete main campus.
