A former Inspector General of the Police (IGP), Alhaji Mohammed Dikko Abubakar, has said that the continuous negligence in implementing some strategic policies, especially from the National Institute for Policy and Strategic Studies (NIPSS), in Kuru, near Jos, is part of the reasons insecurity lingers in the country.
The former IGP said this in Abuja at the two-day retreat on Designing the NIPSS Strategic Plan (2025-2029) organised by NIPSS and the Alumni Association of the National Institute (AANI).
He said that it is not all about producing strategies, but implementation by the government and other relevant organs remains paramount.

Earlier, the Director General of NIPSS, Prof. Ayo Omotayo said the retreat hopes to take critical decisions and also set an agenda for the government for the next five years.

Also, Ambassador Tijjani Muhammad-Bande, a former NIPSS DG and President of the 74th General Assembly of the United Nations (UN), said it was important to ensure that the status of NIPSS is not only sustained, but raised for Nigeria to continue to reap its benefits.
