Nigeria’s Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, has urged the global community to disregard what he described as “negative narratives” about the country’s security situation, insisting that such accounts are often pushed by individuals with ulterior motives.
Speaking as a guest on CNN, Idris emphasized Nigeria’s religious tolerance and highlighted the federal government’s achievements in securing lives and property over the past two years.
“Nigeria is a tolerant country when it comes to religion,” the minister stated, calling on international audiences to focus on verified progress rather than amplified distortions.
Idris detailed ongoing efforts to combat insecurity, citing improved coordination among security agencies and targeted operations that have reduced threats in key regions.
The appearance comes as the government intensifies its public diplomacy to counter perceptions that have impacted foreign investment and international partnerships.
