INEOS, the petrochemicals company led by Sir Jim Ratcliffe, remains confident that Manchester United will not be relegated to the Europa Conference League due to UEFA’s regulations.

INEOS made this known in a recent statement as reported by BBC Sport.

“We are aware of the position of both clubs and are in direct dialogue with Uefa,” INEOS’s statement read.

“We are confident we have a route forward for next season in Europe.”

Holding a 27.7% stake in Manchester United and overseeing football operations at Old Trafford, INEOS also owns the French Ligue 1 club Nice.

Both teams have secured spots in the Europa League for next season.

However, UEFA rules prohibit a single person or entity from controlling multiple clubs in the same European competition, prompting an independent panel to review the situation.

Both Man United and Nice are under scrutiny.

Man United finished eighth in the Premier League this season, while Nice finished fifth in Ligue 1.

If UEFA finds a breach, the Red Devils could be demoted to the Europa Conference League, as Erik ten Hag’s men finished lower in their domestic league than Nice.
