The former vice-presidential candidate of the Labour Party, Senator Datti Baba-Ahmed, accused the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) of conducting a “fraudulent and bad” election.
He made this claim in reference to the 2023 general elections, criticizing how the commission managed the electoral process.
Baba-Ahmed made the remarks on Friday, during an interview on Channels TV’s Politics Today programme.

Speaking on the integrity of the electoral process, he said, “The question you’re asking me about INEC, I have never been a critic of INEC.
“I don’t have energy to spend on criticising INEC.
“INEC conducted a fraudulent and bad election, which is not, up to now, consistent with the Nigerian Constitution, the declaration itself, and I stated it that they have finished us.”
Baba-Ahmed stressed that the commission must be held accountable for its actions, adding, “They have declared a government that is in place and providing the kind of governance they can provide.
“So I have no business with INEC besides the statement of fact.”
He further emphasised the need for posterity and Nigerians to judge the electoral commission, saying, “Now, having cleared this, and it is very, very important statement of fact, let INEC do what they feel like, let their conscience judge them.”
He added, “Let posterity judge them, let Nigerians judge them.”
