INEC Calls on Bauchi Voters to Update Details, Replace Lost PVCs Ahead of 2027 Elections

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has invited eligible voters in Bauchi State to participate in the Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) exercise, which includes updating personal details and replacing lost or damaged Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs).

Resident Electoral Commissioner Umar Ibrahim announced on August 22, 2025, that the CVR, preparing for the 2027 general elections, will facilitate new voter registrations, corrections to details like names or addresses, PVC replacements, voter registration transfers, and collection of unclaimed PVCs from the 2022 CVR.

The exercise began with online pre-registration on August 18, 2025, accessible 24/7 at cvr.inecnigeria.org.

Physical registration starts August 25, 2025, at the INEC State Office in Bauchi and 20 Local Government Offices, operating weekdays from 9:00 am to 3:00 pm, excluding public holidays. Both processes will continue until August 30, 2026.

Eligible voters must be Nigerian citizens, at least 18 years old, unregistered, and present for biometric capture.

INEC will display the Preliminary Register of Voters quarterly for public review to ensure accuracy.

Ibrahim emphasized strict penalties under the Electoral Act 2022 for offences like multiple registrations, underage voting, or obstructing officials.

He urged Bauchi residents to seize this opportunity to register, update records, and collect PVCs, reaffirming INEC’s commitment to a transparent and inclusive process.
