 Imo State School System Receives A Boost  – Independent Newspaper Nigeria


OWERRI – Desirous to strengthen the nation’s education system for both pupils and students, the management of the “Princess Shekinah British International School”, Ihiagwa, in the Owerri West Council Area of Imo state has established a robust curriculum to assist students of the school excel in all external examinations including the National Examination Council (NECO) and the West African Examination Council (WAEC). 

“We are ready to compete globally in all Schools’ Competitions for our products to secure admissions in all top universities across the globe and those who graduated from our school are doing well in this direction both locally and internationally”. 

The Principal of the School – Christian Modebe disclosed his while briefing newsmen on the state of affairs of the academic institution and its journey so far to attain greater enviable academic pedestals. 

Established in 2018 and with a current student population of over 400, Modebe said that the school had consummated arrangements to go to Western Academy to play football and basketball next year. 

“We have a lot that makes us unequal such as our entrepreneurship schools with good facilitators coming from abroad just as we have projects done by students in year Eight (8).” 

Modebe, who conducted journalists round the school premises for on the spot inspection of facilities in the school listed school of catering, fashion and designing, school of music, that of robust Marshal Acts well structured in the school said, “we have since moved from consumption to production hence the existence of our entrepreneurship school and we are doing well in curriculum competition but the government should find a way to motivate us especially in skill acquisition. 

With the teaching of industry certification, Modebe boasted that the students of the school are equipped to work in any Information Technology Establishment across the globe. 

“I have had discussions with parents and guardians within and outside the country on students’ character and learning so as to make our students compete favourably with their counterparts all over the world”. 

“Furthermore, we have installed modern sporting facilities to motivate our students in athletics competitions hence we won the last Milo Basket Ball Competition in the state and also scored 350 marks which was the highest and the best result in the UTME in the state last year. 

Additionally, Modebe disclosed that the management of the School had installed modern security gadgets to monitor students during examinations so as to guard against all forms of examination malpractices. 

According to him, the school had graduated four sets with only one credit in the last WAEC while the rest of the result were in A’s. 

This he said earned the School stronger international recognition from such countries as Austria, Canada and South-Africa. 

He therefore pleaded with governor Hope Uzodimma to do something urgently on the deplorable Nekede/Ihiagwa Road which links both the Federal Polytechnic Nekede and the Federal University of Technology Owerri, lamenting that visitors from abroad such as USA, Canada and other parts of Africa and Europe come here regularly but are jolted by the dilapidated nature of this road. 

He noted that once the road is not pliable, it effects the socio-economic fortune of the host communities adding that the school is promoting sporting activities with sound teachers from abroad and Superb security network.
