The Spokesman of the ruling All Progressive Congress (APC) in Imo State, Hon Cajetan Duke, and the immediate past member of the Imo State House of Assembly for Ngor Okpala State constituency, Hon Blyden Amajirionwn quit the party at the weekend.
Equally, the State Legal Adviser of the Party, Dr Uchechukwu Wilson Nwosu has also resigned his position.
The former members of the party, who cited personal reasons for their action, and expressed their gratitude to Party and the state governor for the opportunity to serve the party.
Duke stated that he left the party to take up a new appointment as the Spokesman of The Mazi Organisation (TMO) the political structure of Dr Mathew Chima Amadi, who is said to be eyeing the governorship in 2027.
The statement read in part: “It is with exceptional humility and profound sense of responsibility that I wish to inform this distinguished audience and general public of my decision to resign as the State Publicity Secretary of the All Progressives Congress, APC Imo State, effective today Friday February 14, 2025. This decision was not taken lightly, but after careful consideration, I have decided to move on to a new challenge that aligns with my values and goals.
I am grateful for the opportunity to have served the APC Imo State in this capacity.
“As I move on to this new chapter, I am excited to announce that I have accepted the offer to become the official spokesperson of The Mazi Organization founded by our brother, Dr. Matthew Chima Amadi. This new role aligns with my passion for building an environment conducive for real economic growth and prosperity, and I am eager to contribute my skills and experience to help advance the organization’s mission and goals.”
Similarly, Hon Amajirionwn who did not only quit the party but also partisan politics said: “My decision to resign both from the party and partisan politics is predicated on my resolve to focus and to concentrate more in building my business enterprise and other humanitarian services which require my total commitment and immense devotion.”
In the same vein, Dr Nwosu said: “This decision is a product of deep reflection on my personal dreams, aspiration and especially the need to be more focused on my career path.”
However, a reliable source in the ruling party who chose anonymity said that most members of the State Working Committee were not happy with way and manner the party was being administered as a ‘ One-Man-Show.’
“The truth is the party is being run like a One-Man-Show. Many of the EXCO members don’t know what is going on in the party. The only time the secretariat is filled to the brim is whenever the governor is coming to address the members. Only the chairman knows what is happening in the party,” the source said.
