Novak Djokovic has vowed to stop Carlos Alcaraz in Friday’s semi-final of the US Open to prevent another Jannik Sinner final showdown.
The Serbian overcame Taylor Fritz and a rowdy New York crowd on Tuesday night, quelling the American’s fightback to keep alive his chances of a 25th Grand Slam title.
Aged 38, Djokovic has now reached the semi-finals of all four majors this year. He was forced to retire injured while facing Alexander Zverev at the Australian Open and then lost to Sinner at Roland Garros and Wimbledon.
He hopes to break through the semi-final barrier for the first time at a Grand Slam this season and prevent a third major final in a row between the Spaniard and Jannik Sinner.

Speaking with Tennis World ahead of Friday’s titanic clash against Alcaraz, Djokovic stated that he has to be at his best to defeat him.
“We don’t need to spend words about the two of them,” said Djokovic. “We know that they are the two best players in the world.
“Everybody is probably expecting and anticipating the finals between the two of them. I’m going to try to mess up the plans of most of the people.
“Let’s see. You know, Sinner still has to win a couple of matches to get to the finals. But they are playing definitely the best tennis of any player here. They have been the dominant force since the beginning of the tournament.”
