The Leader of the House of Representatives, Prof. Julius Omozuanvbo Ihonvbere, has urged Nigerian youths to engage in self-development, build self-confidence, and avoid limiting their ambitions as they strive to make a significant impact in their careers.
Prof. Ihonvbere delivered the advice as the keynote speaker at a youth conference themed “Youth Dialogue Bridging the Gap: A Parley with the National Assembly Leadership” held in Abuja on Thursday 27th November.
Addressing the gathering, the House Leader said, “Young people must endeavour to set their goals and always have option B when planning.
” Surely, there will be obstacles and enemies on the way, but do not get distracted by them. Likewise, do not rely on shortcuts, godfathers, or family names so you do not end up being disappointed.
“Moreover, I will admonish you not to count on prayers alone. Rather, build your capacity by leveraging the power of knowledge and information. It is also important that you develop the courage to speak the truth and stand by it always; it will pay off ultimately.
” In all, there is nothing you want to do in life that you cannot achieve so long as you are consistent and determined in the pursuit of your goals,” he added.
The conference, which sought to enhance youth participation in politics, was also attended by the President of the Senate, Godswill Akpabio, represented by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Hon. Eseme Eyiboh.
